What options are available to remove unwanted hair?

For women, and more recently men, who want to remove unwanted body or facial hair there are a number of options open to them. Many people would like to be able to permanently remove unwanted hair but shy away from treatments such as laser or electrolysis that can be expensive and for some frightening even. Even with these two treatments the results are not permanent and are not allowed to be advertised as such as in around ten percent of treatments hair grows back on the treated area within twelve months.

So what are the alternatives?

Shaving for one needs to be done regularly and offers only temporary hair removal. Even with the latest gels shaving can lead to irritated skin and of course you can cut yourself.

Depilatory creams are another option. These creams are applied to the skin and, after a set time laid out in the instructions, removed with a small plastic scraper. The time that the cream needs to be left on the treated area varies from person to person. Scrape too soon and you will not get the desired effect as there will be hair still remaining. Leave the cream on and it can lead to serious burns that would have to be treated with ointment for at least a few days.

So shaving only offers temporary hair removal and is unsuitable for delicate areas such as the pubic region and depilatory creams can have varied results and are pretty time consuming.

Its not surprising then that the use of hair waxing to remove unwanted body hair has become so popular amongst both men and women. Removing unwanted body or facial hair by the use of hair waxing is a very versatile method and has proved to produce effective results wherever on the body treatment is applied. It can be used to re-shape eyebrows and open up the face or to trim pubic hairs to give a clean tidy look. Some people are put off by the thought that hair waxing is painful but in truth, done correctly, the procedure should only cause a slight smarting for a couple of seconds.

If you choose to wax at home, there are several options open to you as to which type of product you purchase. Both hot and cold waxing kits are available for home use and can be applied to any part of the body, although you should always ensure that you read the instructions and make sure that the product is suitable for delicate areas. Kits intended for specific areas such as the face or bikini area are readily available.

Of course we recommend that you visit a reputable, professional salon to have your unwanted body hair waxed away. Trained technicians properly remove hair, and you won’t have to worry about experiencing the nightmare of having wax stuck to you, hair not removed, and a mess at home.

So to sum up, whether you are a man or woman looking to remove unwanted body hair the use of a hair waxing removal product could be the best option open to you. It won’t take long to get the hang of it and you will have more time to spend on the rest of your beauty regime. If you are still unsure, why not visit a local salon and get advice from a professional beautician about which hair waxing method is suitable for you.

Waxing Kit

If you have never tried hair waxing removal then you may not know how to make the right choice when it comes to what sort of hair waxing product you want. Essentially the first choice to make is whether to visit a salon and have a beautician treat you or to get a hair wax removal kit to use at home.

If you feel like pampering yourself then visiting a salon can be a real treat. You can take a friend if you like and also you will get expert advice from the beautician who, believe me, will have seen everything. Including people hairier than you so there is nothing to be embarrassed about. Visiting a salon is also a good idea if you want to remove hair from difficult to reach places. You can also have other treatments at the same time such as a pedicure or manicure and really pamper yourself. The only drawbacks with visiting a salon are the cost and making the time for a treatment although, compared to other treatments, hair waxing removal is cheaper and less time consuming.

The alternative to visiting a beautician is of course to do it yourself at home. There are a variety of products you can choose from each with their own benefits and applications. For instance if you want to wax your bikini area or remove facial hair then hot wax is preferable as these areas are sensitive and hot wax tends to be kinder to the skin. Hair takes longer to grow back with hot wax too as it completely removes the hair follicle as opposed to cold wax which breaks the hair off at the skin. Hot wax comes in tubs and needs to be melted using a wax heater.

Cold wax comes in strips that are applied to the area in question and are great for legs, chest and back. Although the hair removed will grow back slightly quicker than after hot waxing the process is less messy and there is no need to purchase a wax heater. This does not mean that cold waxing is cheaper as you will normally need to use less hot wax than when using cold waxing. At the end of the day it is down to your own personal preference and the only way to find out is to try for yourself. Bear in mind that your choice of wax will depend greatly on the part of the body that you want to remove unwanted hair. I would recommend that if you have never waxed before then you visit a salon where you can pick up some tips from a professional before attempting it on your own.

Although at first waxing can be painful, even if only for a few seconds when the wax is pulled off, after several treatments the waxed hair will become thinner and removing the wax will be less painful.

From Victorian times to modern electrolysis, we examine the the history of hair removal and the benefits of waxing!

Smooth Beach Body

Let’s face it, everyone has body hair: man or woman, you do, I do, your parents, even super models – and virtually all of us regularly remove it in one way or another.

Since early Victorian times the fashion has been for men to be well groomed. When soldiers returned from the trenches of World War I, Gillette began marketing the safety razor to women. The very same razor that the soldiers had taken into war was now being used by their wives and girlfriends all over the country. Couple this with the ever more revealing fashions of the 1920’s exposing more and more of the female form and body hair removal was born and was here to stay.

Since then, the industry has expanded exponentially both in the number of people who regularly remove unwanted hair to the techniques employed by them. In societies all over the world the sight of body hair, particularly on females, has become more than just unfashionable – it has become a social faux pas. Women do not want unsightly hair on their faces, and few women will leave the house with hairy legs. This trend is not limited to women – men too have caught on to the fact that having a hairy back is unattractive to most women, and many men regularly remove unwanted chest and leg hair. The fashion to remove body hair extends to other regions too, although only the brave let loose with a razor there.

There are many ways to remove unwanted hair, but how do you decide which one is for you? For the majority of people, time is the most valuable resource they have, and they do not want to spend a lot of time every day shaving their body hair. This has lead to the rise of semi-permanent hair removal systems such as electrolysis, laser treatment, and hair waxing.

Of these techniques hair waxing removal offers a safe, affordable, effective and simple solution to unwanted hair. It avoids the scarring and skin damage often associated with other techniques, and does not require several treatments to achieve the look you want. While there are home kits available, you should consider using a trained, experienced hair removal specialist at your local salon. Your salon technician can wax the hair anywhere on your body, and is safe to use on delicate areas such as the face or pubic regions. People who use hair waxing removal to get rid of unwanted body hair say they feel sexier and more confident after they had the treatment. Salon hair waxing is wonderful to have in the quest for remove unwanted body hair.

There are still some hairs left when the wax is pulled off... do you wax again?

While waxing is the longest-lasting and cleanest method of removing unwanted hair, it is also somewhat more uncomfortable than other methods – after all, beauty is pain. When your wax technician misses a few spots and you notice the unsightly hair after-effect, you may be tempted to have them re-wax the same spot.

Don’t do it!

Skin is already sensitive from the first waxing attempt, and it could be damaged from further attempts to wax the hair – including the upper layers of skin being peeled off with the wax! Instead, opt to tweeze the remaining hairs out to save your skin and still get the results that you want. Finally, make sure you are using a qualified, professional hair removal specialist so that your wax job gets done right the first time!
